Pigtails Cupcake Stationery

Lately, I’ve got hooked watching the drama series Downton Abbey on TV. This was a story about the lives of the Crawley family and their servants before the World War I. Somehow I got hooked and I noticed whilst watching it that when they wrote letters, they would used really small paper and envelope. I decided to design one for Pigtails.

Use an A4 paper to print out the stationery and envelopes. It would be a nice to recycle the back of a used paper to print the stationery. Of course it is optional.

Download the template for the Pigtails Cupcakes stationery set and note that I used A4 paper size.

Follow the steps here after you have printed the template:

1. Cut out the stationery and envelope templates:

2. Before folding the envelope, try to slightly use the back of the scissors to add crease on the lines where to fold it. Don’t add pressure and then fold it.

3. Add glue very carefully on the flaps on the sides.

4. Voila! There you have it and start writing a letter to your friends and relatives. You know, if you send a mail out to your love ones, it’ll make it really special rather sending an eCard. :)

I'm such a sleepy head...

Right after the holidays, I’ve been very busy with my current job and have to admit that I missed updating my blog. Not only that, I lost my inspiration to draw (for a while). It’s not just work that has cluttered my mind other sorts of things.

However, I’ve been watching this fantasy cartoons that I often see on TV like Howl’s Moving Castle, Spirited Away, The Return of the Cat, Ponyo on the Cliff, Kiki’s Delivery Service and My Neighbor Totoro which was really about never giving up and just gave me the inspiration to pick up my sketch pad and start drawing.

These are just some of the sketches that I did. Not sure where I’m going to place them yet but definitely going to be part of my designs.

The rest I’ll reveal next time.

Have you done your part?

A few weeks has passed and yet the victims of Cagayan de Oro and Iligan still needs help after the typhoon Sendong. Thousands have died and injured. Our neighbor had to fly to their province because they have to help out their relatives who are victims of this catastrophe. I have donated cash and my old clothes to the church and it is not enough.

Perhaps this coming New Year, our resolutions be to help and reach out to the ones in need just like what we did for Japan. Here’s one of the official sites where you can help out, Red Cross. Whatever you don’t use in your closet, perhaps you can donate to help out.

Pigtails Christmas Cards

After 5 painstakingly long days, my website is up and running. Sorry about that but importantly, here’s the update on Pigtails.

It’s not too late to send out Christmas cards but send it with Pigtails style. I love the Christmas season because where I come from September is the start of playing Christmas songs. Everyone busy decorating and shopping. I think it’s nice to send out cards and not eCards to make the Christmas greeting more special. Don’t you think?

Here’s a fun way to send one and all you need is an A4 board with at least 120 – 160 gsm (thickness). Not too thick so that you won’t have a hard time to cut out.

Step 1: Download the pdf file and print.

Step 2: Cut out the shape.

Step 3: The trick part. Make sure you have an adult to help you cut this part out. Use a very sharp tool like a cutter intricately cut out the pattern. Just follow the dotted lines along the pattern. Remember you don’t need to cut all the way through, just on the line where you fold the circle in half.

Step 4: After you’ve cut it out, fold the circular shape in half where the marker is and. There you have it. You can print out the big ones and give them as your greeting card or use the smaller ones and decorate your desk or room. Or even to put it on your Christmas tree.

Pigtails Underwater Hockey

This wallpaper is for my sister because today is her birthday and she is a Underwater Hockey athlete. If you’re not familiar with this sport, it is like a combination of ice hockey and swimming. Or some people will call it “Octopush.” I don’t know why it is called that though. (Hehe).

The hockey is a bit shorter and the puck is heavier so that it stays at the bottom of the pool.

If you are a good swimmer, why not try this kind of sports for a change? It is a bit of challenge when I first saw them play.

Probably better if the walls of the pool is see-through at the bottom so everyone can have a good view of how it is played.

Rather than just watching from above looking down on the pool.

Do Lucky Cats Really work?

Chinese believes that if you have a business and you want to earn more, you have to have lucky cat. This bring luck to your business and end up earning more.

My friend have been collecting cats to help her with her business, so I made this one for her (and yes as you have requested months ago. Hahaha!)

I did try to make a few sketches of a cat suit worn by my little Pigtails. But didn’t turn out the way I expected.

Some of it look like a mouse instead of a cat.

And some how, I think I manage to nailed it. What do you think?

I’m a scholastican

There are lot of shirts going around and I’m sure you have seen it, too. Those “I am…” tee shirts. And it just so happens that I thought making one for Pigtails. The school that I attended was St. Scholastica’s College and this is what our uniforms look like for Grade School and High School students.

Back in the old days, they were wearing longer sleeves and jumper skirts. Good thing that they’ve updated it up a bit. Not so hot to wear it.

Desktop Calendar for August 2011

Last summer I went swimming with my friends and family to Coron, Palawan in the Philippines. It is one of the most spectacular places that I have seen. Snorkeling in the waters of Coron was amazing and it does take your breath away. You just want to stay in the water and be in awe of how wonderful just to see this exotic and wild sea creatures.

Pigtails printable stickers

One thing for sure, stickers never get old. I love stickers (especially the really cute ones with funny notes on them). So I designed a new set of stickers for Pigtails. Anyway, I wanted to buy those sticker makers but never had the guts to buy one. Until I saw a video of how easy it is to make one using Xyron.

If you’re like me, (one doesn’t have a Xyron sticker maker yet), I’ll used a sticker paper or photo paper to print this. Or better yet, whatever paper you can find and use it to print. Just remember to print this design on A4 size. Then just use a glue and stick it on. However, the problem with inkjet printers is that the water will wash away the design. No worries, there’s a way. Just do what I did. ;)

First, download the Pigtails sticker template PDF file.

Next step, print and use A4 size photo paper, bond paper, board or sticker paper. Whatever you can find. Since I still have some photo paper left which I used to print it.

This is the tricky part, you can use a transparent tape or clear sticker labels and put a tape on the template and cut it out or vice-versa.

Meaning, cut out the designs first, then stick on the transparent paper. (Whichever your comfy on doing because I’m no expert on this yet so kindly bear with me.) =)

It should something like this. See how your paper is protected by the transparent tape or clear sticker labels.

After losing my mobile phone a few months ago, I never got to appreciate my android phone. There’s an upside in using this smart phone because now I can tap to the Internet world with a few taps here and there (of course with the aid of a good stable wifi in the area nearby). A few days ago, I saw a lot of new stationeries and memo pads in the mall. They are so cute that it has inspired to make Pigtails stationery too!

Help Japan

I was contemplating of posting something for Pigtails this week, but after what has happened to Japan, help is needed.

On a Friday afternoon, Japan was hit with a terrifying 8.9 magnitude earthquake. Following the earthquake, a series of after shocks and a big tsunami hits the cities near the coast lines. When you think that wasn’t enough, Nuclear power plants are exploding and fears the spread of radiation.

It is sad to watch the news after the devastation in Japan. However, there’s something we all can do and that is to help.

Pigtails Paper dolls

I used to play paper dolls when I was a young kid so I made one for Pigtails. A

I have printed the layout with using an A4 board to be sure that it stands out. Was thinking of bringing it to the office to decorate it on my cubicle.

Isn’t just the cutest thing when you decorate your study desk. Of course, you can try to cut the dash lines a bit better than I did. (hehe).

Simply download the template and print it using an A4 size board with at least 200 GSM thickness. It would be better to use an A4 photo board just to make sure the colors are vibrant.

Rock N' Roll wallpaper

I love rock music. I grew up listening to Guns N’ Roses, Metallica, Poison, Warrant, Mr. Big, Aerosmith, Nirvana, Alice in Chains, and so much more. My officemate informed me that a lot of rock bands are coming to Manila for a concert. Which is a bit rare but really awesome!

New Pigtails Labels

I like using labels on my scrapbook or in my daily planner or something I need to write down my notes and stick it on the fridge to keep as reminders.

This is just another thing to keep you posted or something you need to add in your scrapbook. But my favorite has got to be the one in the toilet. (hehehe) It’s just for laughs. Everyone could use one sometimes. I know I do.

Lately I’ve been reading a lot of pocket books (hence the late updates on my blog), and realized why not make bookmarks. Although a lot of folks are using Amazon Kindle or iPad to read books these days, but I’m old school and prefer paper over a screen. I love the smell of old books and the paper texture. Pigtails Look-a-like

People would ask me if they want me to draw a caricature of themselves, but I haven’t really tried doing. This time, it’s the other way around. My friend Mae took a picture of her niece and she’s just like one of the characters from Pigtails. Same hairdo (very chic!), color and eyes. (Hehe). Isn’t she the cutest thing? :)

Happy Near Year! Holiday is over and time to check back to reality. I have to apologize because I haven’t updated my blog over the holiday season (it is the holidays) but now I am back with new ideas and cute stuff for Pigtails.

Oh and I do owe you guys that I have to share you the names. It’s all in my head at the moment (hehe). All I have to do is draw a group shot of them.

Pigtails Christmas Box

Don’t have a Christmas wrapper for your gift? Why not try this cute Pigtails Christmas box. So easy to use. Download the template and use an A4 200 GSM board or photo board (which makes the color more vibrant).

You also have one for the boys!

Step 1: Download the Pigtails Christmas box template and cut out the template.

Step 2: After you have cut out the template, fold it in half and glue the flap. Then crease the lines on top and bottom using the dull part of the scissors.

Step 3: After you have creased the lines, try to push down the 2 top flaps inward. Do the same for the bottom part. Make sure that half circle is on top.

There you have it. You can now put your gift for your friend. Have a happy holiday!

Boys on the block!

Finally, I came up with the boys for my Pigtails! During the time I spent in the bazaar last weekend, a lot of people have come up and ask if I have cute items for the boys. Unfortunately, I didn’t have any. I have thought about it and tried to draw the boy version before, but it didn’t turn out well.

As you can see, I even made doodles first before rendering them to illustrator.

Here’s the guys in the block for my Pigtails collection. Rest assure, they’re not going to be called Pigtails (so calm down). I haven’t had the time to think one yet. Any good ideas? Reply now! :)

Pigtails Tumblers

One the things that keeps me busy is to design Pigtails tumblers. There are 5 designs to choose from. Starry night, Sakura, In the clouds, Ice cream and Rainy day.

The tumbler size is approximately 6.5" inches in height. I use a matte photo paper with 140 GSM. Kindly take note that the tumblers is not microwaveable nor dishwasher safe. Hand wash only.

You can also change the tumbler art design which I will offer soon.

Happy Halloween from Pigtails!

Happy Halloween! Here’s a fun way to enjoy the Halloween party other than candies. Here’s a cute Halloween candy bag that you might want to use as a giveaway to your friends.

Download here: Letter (8.5” x 11”) or A4 (210mm x 297mm)

Step 1: Use 220 gsm board (letter or A4 sizes). Cut the pattern. It should look like something like this. :)

Fold the dotted lines. After you have folded them, add glue on the flap and glue it onto the other side of the box.

This is the tricky part so pay attention carefully.

Step 2: Fold the Pigtails logo first inward. This will help support the bottom.

Step 3. Fold the left and sides inward towards the center.

Step 4: Fold the last flap upward and try to tuck in the flap under the Pigtails logo.

This what it should look like after. No need for glue. :)

Finished product. Here's one of the sides of the Pigtails Halloween Candy box.

Place the candies. You can use this as give away for your Halloween party.

Pigtails personalized starbucks tumbler

This is a tumbler design I did for my boss. I thought she would like it while she’s traveling.

I simply used the template from Starbucks, scanned and traced it via Adobe Illustrator. Placed my design and voila, there you have it.

New Pigtails iPhone Wallpapers

New Pigtails iPhone wallpapers for you to download them here. I realized that I haven’t made one since July. So hope you like this new batch. Please tell your friends~

Instructions:

Here are the easy steps you can take to make use of our cool wallpapers on your iPhone. The first step is to save the desired wallpaper to your Mac or PC via your favorite browser.

   1. Right-click or control-click on the image you want to use.
   2. Select "Save as..." and save the image to your hard drive.
         * Mac users can either save the image to a folder or add it to their iPhoto library.
         * PC users will want to save the wallpaper into their "My Pictures" folder.

You can then sync the iPhone with photos in iPhoto 4.0.3 or later on a Mac, or Photoshop Album 2.0 or later or Photoshop Elements 3.0 or later on a PC. Or you can sync with any folder on your computer that contains images. Connect the iPhone to your computer and do the following:

   1. Launch iTunes then click the Photos tab and select "Sync photos from:"
   2. From the pop-up menu, do one of the following:
         * If your using a Mac, choose iPhoto or your Pictures folder.
         * If you're using a PC, choose Photoshop Album, Photoshop Elements, or your My Pictures folder.
   3. Choose Folder, then choose any folder on your computer that has images.
   4. Choose "All photos," or choose "Selected folders" or "Selected albums" and choose the folders or albums you want to sync.
   5. Navigate to the Settings application on your iPhone, and choose the appropriate group of photos where you saved the wallpaper, then tap the image and set as wallpaper.

That's it, you should see your custom wallpaper on the iPhone's start-up screen as well as for incoming calls that do not have a contact assigned to them.

How Pigtails are drawn~

People often ask me how I draw them. The answer is, I doodle them on my sketch pad or any piece of paper I could find. As you can see, the doodle part is imperfect. So I scan it and trace it using Adobe Illustrator. Then I have to make sure that the items suits Pigtails. And there you have it.

Pigtails Calendar Papercraft

I was in the bookstore a few days ago and noticed that they’re not selling calendars any more. I suppose if you didn’t get to buy them early in the year, you won’t get to buy one now. I decided to make my own.

5 Easy steps after you have download the PDF file.

First thing is, to download the PDF file here. I have 2 templates for A4 and Letter size.

Use A4 or Letter size board, about 200-220 GSM to print the design so that it will be strong.

You will need: scissors or cutter, glue, ruler, a cutting mat (optional) and pens.

Step 1: Cut the printed template onto the cutting mat. You can use old newspaper or magazine as your cutting mat.

Step 2: Before you fold them, write down the month and year onto the printed calendar. You can make the numbers bigger or smaller so you can write some important dates.

Step 3: On the dotted lines of the templates. Use one of the sharp tip of your scissors to help add crease on the board. Don't press to hard as not to ruin the design.

Step 4. Add glue on the flap.

Step 5: Voila! The final look for the calendar. Now you can display on your desk to keep you reminded of your dates.

Cute Little Pigtails Stationery

Cute little square Pigtails stationery. Here you can download and print it for free. I designed 12 of them and it fits perfectly to a 8.5” x 11” inches or letter size paper.

Using a cutter or scissors to cut them carefully and equally. Each square is approximately 7cm x 7cm. Just be careful when you use a cutter though. You don’t want to hurt yourself.

After you have cut them, you can use to put on your notes or little reminders of things to do. Perhaps you can even use it for your scrapbook like to add your notes about that event.

Please recycle paper. Since only one side of the print is all you need for this. :)

Pigtails doodles

I know I can't draw well on paper, but that doesn't stop me from doing what I love to do. Draw. :)

Even if you're not good at drawing (look at my drawings), you can still fix it via illustrator or photoshop. (I prefer illustrator because they are vector output.)

Ideas for my next scrapbook or digital layout. Wait for the final output! :)

For the recipe cards I'm trying to work on. Need pots, pans, ladle, ingredients...

And I got carried away with practicing for hugs and chicks. And I did like the chubby chick though~ :)

Pigtails Picture Frames

Here’s another good way of adding cute embellishments to your scrapbook, picture frames!

The difference from other picture frames, Pigtails frames are not your ordinary shapes. I thought it would be cool and fun to use funky shapes to add your cute photos.

Simply download the PDF file, and use A4 paper size. You can use photo paper to make the colors stand out or an A4 board size. I used an A4 board so that the frame will be stronger.

After you have downloaded and printed the cute Pigtails frames, try to cut them carefully. Use a cutter to be precise. If you’re too young to cut it yourself, ask an adult to help you out.

Once you have your frame cut, place the photo you like to use for the frames. When you cut the photo, try to make sure it doesn’t show the edges from the frame. Add glue on the picture and frame. You are done! Here’s some examples.

Then stick it to your scrapbook and there you have it! Your very own cute and funky picture frames.

Pigtails: Rough Sketches

hi there. They're not very cute on my sketch pad. Please bare with me. =)

Yes I did draw them. Honestly, I'm not very good at drawing on pen and paper. I just sketch them on paper, scan it and then enhance them on illustrator.

My biggest inspiration was watching Snoopy cartoons. I feel so sorry for Charlie Brown whenever he does something and ends up in failure. Even though things may get him down, he always has his good best friend Linus to supports him. Let’s not forget his psychiatrist, Lucy, to keep him grounded.

My drawings are not perfect and that’s how I want people to know who I am. That it’s okay to be imperfect as long as it is done by you.

Meet the Pigtails

I have designed a lot of cute items in the past but this is my latest one, the Pigtails. It seems that when I posted this drawing on my Facebook, I did receive a lot of good feedback. I felt so happy about it and I want to do more.

To be honest, I haven't really come up with a way to utilize them, until when my friend and I was going to visit our friend who just gave birth. My friend Mel told me, why not sell your drawings for scrapbook embellishments. Haven't really thought of that, but I could give it a shot. Who knows, maybe this is my shot.

This is just the beginning, and let's see how things will be. So stick around, okay? :)
